The Scouring is a fantasy-themed real-time strategy game from the team at Orc Group. A development team making its debut with this RTS in 2025. The title is mainly handled by Pavel Zagrebelnyy, none other than the creator of the Spintires series. The project was announced on 7 December 2024 by Pavel himself.

An experimental project that turned into a full-fledged game. You’ll have to gather resources, build bases, and lead armies with swords and magic. Following good feedback in early 2025 from various playtests and the Demo. The Scouring: Now Available in Early Access

Today finally marks the official launch of The Scouring, the real-time strategy game about orcs and humans by Orc Group. The debut title from solo dev Pavel Zagrebelnyy, the creator of the famous Spintires. Finally launching in Early Access today, 12 August 2025, on Steam.

We’re accompanying this with the Trailer dedicated to the Heroes available for the 2 factions. With a Fantasy RTS that combines the classic mechanics of resource gathering, base building, and leading armies. As well as various game modes, including one in MOBA style. Where we’ll control the Heroes, while the AI handles the building and resource gathering side of things.

The Scouring: Gameplay and Key Features

The new project by Pavel Zagrebelnyy has certainly surprised many, bringing a real-time strategy game that pays homage to the great classics of the genre. Particularly the Warcraft series, and offering:

• Classic RTS: With a classic real-time experience of resource gathering, building, and battles. Accompanied by clashes of magic, swords, and cannons. In a day-night cycle complete with waves of undead to defend against.

• Lead Your Hero: With at least 3 Heroes per Faction available, with lots of customization and control. You can even play entirely as a hero with a style between action RPG and tactical by leading armies.

• Game Modes: With various multiplayer game modes including the classic Skirmish and Free for All with up to 8 players. With various customizations and dynamic modes to test your skills.

But also a strong modding component for the game. Thanks to the integration of the Workshop for maps and even unique scripts for the AI. And with the dev sharing the Roadmap for the game, bringing lots of new features. Including a Winter Biome, a new Faction, Dedicated Servers, and even a Campaign.
