Battlefield 6: EA Works to Increase Server Capacity After 250,000 Players Join Queue to Play Beta

EA has acknowledged players’ frustrations after 250,000 players joined the queue to play the Battlefield 6 Early Access Open Beta and increased server capacity. EA DICE’s upcoming FPS launches on October 10, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Battlefield 6: Over 300,000 Players Are Sitting in a Queue to Play the Early Access Beta

The Battlefield 6 Early Access Open Beta began today for those who were part of the Battlefield Labs playtests before August 1 or managed to grab a key by watching a Twitch streamer.

Due to high demand and an overload of excitement, players were forced into queues of up to 250,000 players, which EA has addressed by increasing server capacity and by revealing it will continue to “keep an eye on.”

Why Are Players Queuing So Long?

Battlefield 6 is one of the most highly anticipated shooters of the past decade, with EA and developer DICE promising a return to the series’ classic roots with a class-based system, large-scale maps, and highly destructible environments.

When playing the beta, some players have struggled to enter matchmaking after finishing a match because of unavailable playlists. EA’s official recommendation for these players is to restart their game, which again places them in the queue.

Another reason for large queue times is the buzz around BF6, with millions wanting to try the latest Battlefield entry before it releases in October.  That’s reflected in the numbers, with over 315,000 players on the beta on Steam alone at the time of writing.

What’s in the Battlefield 6 Beta?

This beta is the first of two beta weekends, and from now until August 10, those trying the beta will have access to Conquest, Closed Weapons Breakthrough, Domination, and King of the Hill modes. There are three maps: Siege of Cairo, Liberation Peak, and Iberian Offensive.

Weekend two begins on August 14 and ends August 17, and will include the same maps and the Empire State map. The second beta will also add Rush and Squad Deathmatch as playable modes.

What Comes Next for Battlefield 6?

Over the next two weekends, EA and DICE are testing their servers. Meanwhile, players have an opportunity to play the FPS. It’s all gearing up for the highly anticipated launch of Battlefield 6 on October 10, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
