A post on X by TPC stated: “The illustration errors were caused by the production teams of The Pokémon Company and Creatures Inc., who provided incorrect materials as official documents to the illustrator, and we intend to take full responsibility for it.”

This statement came alongside a plea asking fans to refrain from attacking the illustrator, after The Pokémon Company acknowledged it had become aware of “criticism” being aimed towards the artist.
