FromSoftware has announced it is delaying the highly anticipated Elden Ring Nightreign Patch 1.02, which will add a duos mode to the co-op Soulslike, due to a tsunami warning following an 8.8 magnitude earthquake near Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula.

The delay to the update was revealed by FromSoftware on the game’s official social media accounts, stating they are pushing it back a day to July 31, 2025.
Patch 1.02 will add a duos mode and quality-of-life UI improvements, including additional Relics filtering options and was to introduce Augur as a new Everdark Sovereign.
Why the Delay Happened
An 8.8 magnitude earthquake was registered off the coast of Russia near the Kamchatka Peninsula on the morning of July 30, 2025. In response, evacuation orders are in place on the US West Coast, Japan, and as far as New Zealand.
FromSoftware, a Japanese developer, has told fans that following the earthquake, “we have decided to postpone the distribution of the ‘ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN’ Patch 1.02, which was scheduled for today to tomorrow, July 31 (Thursday) after 10:00CEST | 1:00 PDT.”

What Is Duos Mode in Nightreign?
Elden Ring Nightreign launched for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on May 30, 2025, and despite the co-op game becoming an instant hit with fans, it strangely lacked a two-player mode, even though you could play as a triple or solo adventurer.
Duos will mean an improved multiplayer experience, as players no longer have to find strangers to fill their smaller squads. FromSoftware previously said it had “overlooked” the lack of a two-player mode.
What This Means for Players
Expeditioners will soon be able to enjoy the game in duos, but a day later than originally planned, with Elden Ring Nightreign Patch 1.02 now going live on July 31, 2025, across all platforms.
If anything changes, FromSoftware will likely update fans on its social media channels.
Conclusion
Elden Ring Nightreign duos and Patch 1.02 have been delayed until July 31 following an earthquake off the coast of Russia. The update will include QoL improvements and a new Everdark Sovereign.
