qubo

qubo is a minimalist puzzle game that challenges your understanding of space and perspective. The premise is simple: manipulate, rotate, and navigate a set of 3D blocks to fit inside a 2D shape. Out of this simplicity comes a remarkable complexity as you encounter blocks of different shapes, sizes, and colors, revealing an astonishing interplay between two- and three-dimensional space. qubo won't hold your hand or make you sit through a tutorial: solve one puzzle, or solve them all. The choice is yours.

qubo will be available on the App Store, the Google Play Store, and Steam starting June 1st, 2021.

history

qubo was developed by Cronyx LLC, a local Albuquerque startup founded by high school student Jacob Roberts-Baca and brother Samuel. The company's focus is to develop intriguing games, apps, and software that value the user's time and energy while providing a novel and interesting experience.

qubo is a concept game, and focuses on a world that is simultaneously two- and three-dimensional. Although each puzzle is fully three-dimensional, movement is made in just two dimensions, allowing manipulation of the puzzles and blocks that seems to defy logic. The idea behind qubo was conceived in the summer of 2018, and the game has been in development ever since. qubo's puzzle mechanic was inspired by two other games: Fez and Bloxorz. By transforming Fez's unique 2D/3D puzzle mechanic with the rolling block mechanics of Bloxorz, qubo was born.
